Alien Mate by Cara Bristol

This book is about a woman named Starr. She is falsely convicted of murder and is sent away on an exchange with an alien planet where there is a shortage of women. Not only was she convicted of a crime she didn't commit she's now being sent to a primitive planet where it's almost always winter and men are willing to take strangers as their mates. Starr is different than the other women aboard the ship headed to the planet of Dakon, she's the only blond among a group of brunettes. When she arrives on the planet she's passed over by every male. Hurt and angry she's furious when the last man to arrive is shocked by her appearance. Starr is insulted by the behavior of these men but has no choice but to follow the lone male. Torg is the Chief of his tribe, he was also lucky enough to get third pick of the alien women arriving on his planet. Unfortunately he was delayed and was stuck with the last remaining female. When he sees her for the first time he's shocked. She has fair hair and is skinny, nothing like what he would have chosen for the mother of his children. But he has no choice, he accepts Starr and learns more about her and realizes that she's exactly what he didn't know he was looking for. On Dakon violent crimes are met with banishment and being alone on the cold planet means a most certain death. Starr has to hide what her supposed crime was from Torg and everyone else but she can only do so for so long. While the love between Starr and Torg grows bigger every day there is danger lurking around every corner. Can Starr get a happy ending without losing her life?

This was such a fun read! Starr is an awesome heroine and Torg is so protective of her. I loved the idea of women being sent to a planet where the shortage of women makes them important. I liked that the men would do anything to get a bride. Icha was a bitch I really didn't like her she caused so much trouble. I loved Andrea and Tessa and Loka and Groman they were fun characters. We don't know a lot about Starr's conviction and why she did was she did until near the end of the book and the reveal was unexpected as was the identity of her assassin. I was sad about Tessa and Loka but it was a great ending. I would love to read more books about this world and these characters if ever there are future books. A really fun story.
